"From Alliance to Coalitions: The Future of Transatlantic Relations" develops a new transatlantic agenda, based on the findings of the "Transatlantic Strategy Groups" of the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Center for Applied Policy Studies (CAP). The authors advocate a strategy for action in response to important questions in the field of security and on economics, finance and trade. Members of the Transatlantic Strategy Groups include Javier Solana, High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union; Martti Ahtisaari, Chairmen of the International Crisis Group; Bob Zoellick, U.S. Trade Representative; and Pascal Lamy, EU Trade Commissioner. The book features contributions by renowned policy makers and practitioners with a background in politics, business, academia and media. The concrete policy recommendations were developed in cooperation with scholars from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Brookings Institution, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute and the London Centre for European Reform
